The Teatro EDP Gran Vía, formerly known as the Gran Vía Cinema, is a traditional theatre located in the heart of Madrid's Gran Vía. It has a rich history, having gone through various transformations, starting as a cinema hall in 1944, and then becoming a theatre space between 1947 and 1950. After a refurbishment in 1994, the theatre received authorization from the Madrid City Council in 2004 to become a space for the performing arts. Since then, it has been a thriving venue, hosting a wide range of productions including films, musicals, theatre plays, and concerts. Formerly known as the Teatro Compac or Teatro de la Luz Philips, the theatre's grand entrance, adorned with sparkling chandeliers, leads to a majestic space where anything is possible. With its 950 seats, it is equipped to stage a diverse array of shows, including international and cosmopolitan productions of ballet, flamenco, dance, comedy, and music.
